Extractions
A tooth can be recommended for extraction for a number of reasons: decay, infection, fracture, or for orthodontic purposes. Your general dentist or orthodontist will explain the need for your extraction and possible tooth replacement options if applicable.
At the time of extraction, the doctor will need to numb your tooth and gums that surround the area with a local anesthetic.
During the extraction process you will feel a lot of pressure as the tooth is being rocked back and forth for removal. You feel the pressure without pain as the anesthetic has numbed the nerves stopping the transference of pain, yet the nerves that transmit pressure are not profoundly affected.
If you do feel pain at any time during the extraction, please let us know right away. No pain should be felt during the process.
It is important to follow homecare instructions that your doctor has given you for a quick healing process.
